Client area versus trading account
Your client area holds your profile, wallet and documents. A trading account is what connects to MT5 and holds positions. One client area can have several trading accounts — a demo to practise on, a Standard account for everyday trading, an ECN account for tighter spreads.
Choosing a type
| Standard | ECN | ECN Pro | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Spread | from 1.1 pips, no commission | from 0.2 pips + commission | institutional pricing |
| Minimum deposit | 30 USD | 200 USD | 5,000 USD |
| Best for | starting out; simple costs | active traders who compare all-in cost | high volume |
The full specification is on the account comparison page. If you are unsure, Standard is the right first account; you can open an ECN account beside it later.
Demo first
A demo account trades the same prices on the same platform with virtual money. Use one until placing, modifying and closing orders in MT5 feels routine. Nothing you learn on the demo is wasted; everything you learn on a live account by mistake costs money.
Steps
الخطوة ١: Open Trading Accounts
In the client area, go to Trading Accounts and choose Open New Account.
الخطوة ٢: Choose demo or real, then the type
Pick the account type and the account currency. USD is the default and the simplest for pip-value arithmetic.
الخطوة ٣: Choose leverage
Standard accounts offer up to 1:500. Higher leverage lowers the margin per position; it does not change what a pip is worth. The leverage lesson explains the trade-off; 1:100 is a sensible starting point, and you can change it later from the account's settings.
الخطوة ٤: Set a trading password
This is separate from your client-area password. It is what MT5 asks for.
الخطوة ٥: Note the login details
The account number, server name and password are shown once on screen and sent by email. The MT5 login guide shows where they go.
Can I change the account type later?
You can open a new account of another type at any time and transfer funds between them. An existing account keeps its type.
Can I lower the leverage?
Yes, from the account's settings in the client area. Lowering leverage with open positions may increase required margin, so check free margin first.
Is there a swap-free option?
Contact support about a swap-free account before opening one; eligibility and the applicable conditions are explained there.
